Canada Emergency Response Benefit – New Developments

Canada High Resolution Emergency Concept

Artists continue to help us to reflect on life, and dream. They bring sunshine into our daily lives, and we are very grateful for that.” – Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, April 15 Press Conference

On April 15, the Prime Minister announced expanded eligibility criteria for the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB). This includes:

  • Artists and creators who receive royalty payments from prior copyrighted works are eligible for the Canada Emergency Response Benefit, provided that they meet other requirements.
  • Allowing people to earn up to $1,000 per month while collecting the CERB.
  • Extension of the CERB to workers who recently exhausted their EI regular benefits and are unable to find a job or return to work because of COVID-19.
