Since its founding in 2017 The Canadian Association of Stand-up Sketch and Improv Comedians (CASC) has been advocating for comedians in order to lift up our industry and improve working conditions for comedic performers across the country
Among CASC’s initiatives is the Comedy Is Art! campaign, calling on the Government of Canada to officially recognize comedy as an art form. We want comedians of all types to have access to the same public arts funding available to other performers and creators. His includes working with federal and provincial arts councils to ensure comedians are eligible for grants, touring support, and development funding for albums, podcasts, television, and film. Our goal is to create viable careers in comedy within Canada, rather than forcing talent to leave the country to succeed.
