As we mentioned in our general meeting earlier this year, CASC has been entertaining the possibility of starting a local chapter of Unifor. This would confer to our members, all the benefits of being a member of Unifor.

The price for this would be raising our membership cost to $10 a month. This is a requirement to start the chapter, however, CASC will be able to retain all of the membership fees, to be used at our discretion to fund our organization.

BECOMING A COMMUNITY CHAPTER

As a Community Chapter of Unifor, our members will have the option to access the full array of Unifor’s extended health benefit plans.

DEDICATED UNIFOR REP

Casc will have a dedicated Unifor representative, to keep us updated and informed on various avenues Unifor can work with us to help reach the goals of our membership.

LOBBYING THE GOVERNMENT

Unifor has a team of lobbyists that will be able to assist us in our continued effort to have our government recognize Comedy as art. Unifor can offer infrastructure, legal, and lobbying support at a national level. CASC would enjoy the solidarity and stability of a union that represents 310,000 members, specializing in independent workers.

MEMBERSHIP DUES

Starting a community chapter will increase the cost of our membership (from $50/year to $120/year), however, Unifor will not be taking any dues for their contribution. CASC will be able to keep the membership fees to continue our work to strengthen our organization and continue working towards our goals.
